Calendar: Election and Voting Dates 2020

Sept 18

Early voting in person begins in Virginia; M - F, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturdays Oct 24 and 31,  8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Early voting ends Saturday, Oct 31.

  • Montgomery County, 755 Roanoke St, Christiansburg, Multipurpose Room; Also at Wonder Universe (children's museum) at the Uptown Christiansburg mall
  • Floyd County, 100 East Main Street, Floyd, Room 302; Drive-up and walk-up curbside voting: look for the tent
  • Radford City, 619 2nd Street, Radford
  You don't need a photo ID, but you do need ID--one of these: driver's license, passport, ID card issued by a US, Virginia, or local Virginia government; student ID issued by a US university or college; employer-issued photo ID card; current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or other govt document with your name and address; ID confirmation statement
Sept 18

Absentee ballots will be mailed starting on Sept 18. No excuse is needed to vote absentee; submit your form by mail, fax, or email

If you apply for an absentee ballot and then decide to vote in person, you must either bring the ballot with you to the polling place or write to the registrar to cancel your application.

Deadline to apply: October 23, 5 pm

Sept 22

National Voter Registration Day. Look for the League registering voters at the entrance to the Blacksburg Public Library, 200 Miller Street, in the morning and near the Lyric Theatre (College Avenue) in the afternoon. Also at the Jessie Peterman library in Floyd, 321 West Main Street

Oct 13

Deadline to register to vote or to update your contact information.

  Register here if you have a VA driver's license: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation. There you can also download a paper application to mail or return in person. Be sure to answer all the questions!
Or go in person to the Office of Voter Registration, Montgomery County, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg
Oct 23

Deadline to apply for an absentee ballot. Submit your form by mail, fax, or email. The local registrar must receive the request by 5 pm on Oct 23.

Oct 31

Last day for in-person early voting. Registrar's office open 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
