Early Voting Options 2020

Early Voting Options 2020

1.  Vote early in person at the Registrar’s office or satellite voting site, beginning Sept. 18

  • Montgomery County has approved two sites, one in the multipurpose room of the government building, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg, one at the children’s museum (Wonder Universe) at the Uptown Christiansburg Mall. Connie Viar, the Registrar, notes that both places are large enough for multiple distanced voting stations. The election officers will be wearing protective equipment.
  • In Radford, go to 619 2nd Street.
  • In Floyd, go to 100 East Main Street, Room 302. For drive-up and walk-up curbside voting, look for the tent.
  • In Pulaski County, go to 87 Commerce St, Pulaski

Hours: 8:30 am–4:30 pm M–F + Saturdays October 24 and 31, same hours. Last day: October 31.

2.  Mail in your ballot

Request a ballot  (deadline Oct 23, 5 pm); ballots will be mailed starting Sept 18

  • by writing to your county Registrar.

Montgomery County Registrar, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg 24073 or by email  govote121 [at] montgomerycountyva.gov  (See other county addresses above.)

Sign the envelope exactly as you are registered to vote. Check your registration details at vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation

Dropboxes for ballots are available at the Registrars' offices.

If you have requested a mail-in ballot and decide to vote in person instead...

Take your ballot with you to the polling place.

Early voting in person has some advantages over mail-in ballots

  1.  There's less chance of error (for example, a signature on the envelope that doesn't match your voter registration or a ballot that arrives late).
  2. You can be sure your vote will be counted.
  3.  Ballots are scanned at the time of voting, meaning less processing time on November 3 and quicker results.
